Reflection Task 3
The Person Of The Year
According to me, the person of the year is Ahmet Batman. I love his perspective on life. I think, he is one of the unappreciated authors. Hİs first book’s name is Soğuk Kahve. I read the book. In first glance I thought it is a novel but it is not. I think the type of the book is essay. In the book there are parts. This is useful because readers can read it any time they want. I loved the style of the writer. He is outspoken and fearless. According the book I read he must be an honest person. He is like someone you have known for years. The language of the book is as if Ahmet Batman is talking to you. When you are reading the book, you feel the feelings of the writer. He can transport his feelings to readers. Because of his candid writing, I choose Ahmet Batman as the person of the year. He is telling us to us. Some of the readers are complainer about his writing style. They are saying that they cannot understand the book. They must know that İf they are real readers they must make an effort. When you read the sentences carefully, you understand the main idea. The sentences seem very simple and short but the meanings of them are very deep. However, the book are read very fast. To sum up, I loved Ahmet Batman’s thoughts, sharp tongue and outspokenness. He has a different perspective on live. I loved his play on words. He must be the person of the year.

Free Reflection 2
EGYPT
My reflection is about Ancient Egypt. I love history of Egypt. It is big part of the Sahara Desert, which runs all across the top of Africa. It is a fascinating country. I love searching about Egypt. Nile River, pyramids, labyrinth and mummies are interesting. Egypt is as if a different world. Their clothes, hairs and eye make-ups are different. Both men and women in Egypt wore tunics. These tunics were like a long T-shirt which reached to the knees (for men) or to the ankles (for women). In social life, as in other parts of Africa, some people in Ancient Egypt were slaves. Most slaves in Egypt worked in the fields, like everyone else. But many were house cleaners, wet nurses, cooks, or skilled dancers and musicians. Egypt is in Sahara Desert. The reason people did live in Egypt was that the Nile River runs through the middle of Egypt. The Nile is a big river. It starts in the rain forest south of Ethiopia, south of Egypt, and it flows north into the Mediterranean Sea. Water from the Nile makes it possible to grow crops in Egypt. About 95 % of Egypt's population still live in the Nile valley (the area next to the river). All of Egypt depended on the Nile for water, food and transportation. In Ancient Egypt, religious beliefs had an important role in social life. It was believed that when you died, your soul went on a journey into the underworld. People of Ancient Egypt believed that they had to preserve their bodies so they could use them in the afterlife. For this reason, a method of artificial preservation, called mummification was developed by the ancient Egyptians. People who could afford mummification were the mummies. To sum up, I love Ancient Egypt very much. I want to visit Egypt and learn about their cultures. I hope one day my dreams come true.

CAMELS
My topic is camels. They are amazing animals. They have tree stomachs. A camel is an animal with a hump. In their humps, they store fat, not water. Fat is a source of energy when food is scarce. They chew their cud like cows. Camels don’t need water very much. Camels may not drink water up to six months. A thirsty camel can drink 100 liters of water in 10 minutes. In addition to their humps, camels have other ways to adapt to their environment. They have a third, clear eyelid that protects their eyes from blowing sand. Two rows of long lashes also protect their eyes. Sand up the nose can be a problem, but not for camels. They can shut their nostrils during sand storms. They are mostly in brown colors. The camel is one of the oldest domesticated animals. People have been using them for more than 10,000 years. They are generally used for their milk, hides and wool; but -especially- they are being used for transportation. For this reason, they are being called as “ships of the desert”. Did you know that baby camels are born without a hump? There are two types of camels: Dromedary camels, and Bactrian camels. The dromedary camel has one hump and long legs and it lives in the desert of Arabia and Africa. The Bactrian camel has two humps and a very thick coat and it lives in Asia in areas that are mostly grasslands. Camels love to stay in groups. The groups are being called as herds. The herds are led by a dominant male. Camels are very social and like to greet each other by blowing in each other's faces. To sum up, I love these amazing animals. I think they are miracles of God.

Reflaction Task 2a
Child Psychology
My reflection task is about child psychology. This subject is quite
comprehensive. I will
try to give information with a few examples. If parents behave
authoritatively and oppressively, their children will be insecure and will be
shaped according to what their parents want. I think that the behavior of
parents affects children deeply. That makes sense to me because children observe
their environment; in that way, they learn about the world. First, in
oppressive family structures parents set rules and children are supposed to adapt
to them. I believe there must be rules when bringing children up. For example,
parents should limit the watching TV and determine the sleeping hours, but the
reasons of the rules should be explained properly. However, I do not think it
is so good to control everything of child. If parents do this, the child will
always need them and will be dependent on his/her parents. The parents should
show their mistakes. However, they should not behave so critically since it can
break children’s confidence. Second, if they get always negative criticism,
they will not share what they have done, even if they have done good things,
because they are afraid of being punished. In this point, the importance of
appreciation cannot be neglected. I believe that parents should support the
children and they should not lead to right path, instead, they should give the
children a chance to make a choice. To sum up, I think that being so critical
has negative effects on children such as being shy, dependent on the parents,
fear of being punished or the feeling of being inferior. Also, I think
parenting issue is not about bringing dependent children up, it is about
bringing up responsible and respectful children.
